ICJ Officer

The International Court of Justice is the chief judicial organ of the United Nations. Its purpose is to rule in disputes between member nations (never individuals), and, if requested, to provide advisory opinions for the other UN bodies.

Participation in the Model International Court of Justice is a unique opportunity for highly motivated students with significant MUN experience, who are interested in experiencing and simulating the working of the United Nations legal infrastructure.

Students applying for a position as a member of the Model International Court of Justice must register along with a letter of application and their MUN-Director’s recommendation. Letters of application should outline a candidate’s experience and language qualifications, and should state their reasons for applying and what contribution they think they can make to the Court. Letters of recommendation should include some reference to the candidate’s abilities, academic performance, school and extra-curricular activities.
